Statement of Beliefs
Walking with Jesus
We, the community of St Joseph’s School, believe children are a gift from God created in His likeness, have inherent dignity, and are entitled to being treated with respect and love as guided by the Gospel values.
Therefore, we provide opportunities for each child to continue their spiritual journey and know God through Religious Education, prayer, song and storytelling. We integrate the Gospel values, throughout the day as we stive to be like Jesus and see God through His creation.
Journey Together
We, the community of St Joseph’s School, believe parents are the first educators.
Therefore, we work closely with the families to nurture the growth and development of the whole child.
We, the community of St Joseph’s School, believe in collaboration and cultivating healthy relationships.
Therefore, we acknowledge the contributions and expertise within the school and the wider community to foster each child’s journey and achieve their goals.
Learning, places and spaces
We, the community of St Joseph’s School, believe in the agency of the child and that all children develop at their own pace.
Therefore, we will provide opportunities across all domains, for every child to make decisions and have a choice on things that will impact his/ her learning and development.
We, the community of St Joseph’s School, believe that children learn best through play, hands on experiences and inquiry.
Therefore, we provide opportunities for play both inside and outside, promoting hands on experiences with a variety of natural and constructed materials.
We, the community of St Joseph’s School, believe that children need opportunities to practice making decisions, taking risks, being independent, persisting, being resilient, and solving problems so they may build their capacity as proficient individuals.
Therefore, we support their development of self-management skills and their ability to recognise and experience both positive and negative consequences of their actions, so they become confident, global citizens.
